D.C.

A few weekends ago we went to Washington, D.C. to go to the temple and to get away from this claustrophobic sweet little city we live in. We traded babysitting with some friends on Friday night so we could all go to the temple and it was nice to be able to go with Tom rather than by myself.

The next day, the children awoke bright and early. At least my children did. So, we ate the breakfast buffet and then decided to drive to the temple again so the kids could see it.

It was kind of a dreary, rainy day, but Tom took each of the kids up close to the temple so they could touch the walls and see it closer.

One of the top songs Braden requests at bedtime is "I Love to See the Temple," so it was kind of cool that he actually got to see what the song is talking about. Well, he has seen a temple before, but he was much younger.

Next on the agenda was swimming. The pool actually had a lifeguard! I didn't know that hotels did such things (at least the kind we can afford to stay at).

Here are the members of the family who were comfortable being photographed in their swimming attire:

The pool was really warm, which meant that I actually stayed in it the whole time, instead of skipping right to the hot tub like I usually do. Keri liked it for the most part but she was clinging to me pretty tightly. Braden is still slightly scared but he had a good time.

After we checked out of the hotel (or the hoo-tell, as Braden calls it), we drove downtown and decided to walk around a bit and try and see a museum or two. It was not the best weather, but it was still fun to walk and see a few things.

Then, we drove home. There was horrible fog the whole way so it pretty much felt like I was dying for five hours. Tom is a good driver, it was just nearly impossible to see the lines.

It was a nice trip. Nice people to hang out with. And a very nice hotel staff - they even mailed us the electric toothbrush we forgot there for free.
